Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

¹I was glad when they said to me,“Let us go to the house of the LORD.”

²Our feet are standing in your gates,O Jerusalem.

³Jerusalem is built upas a city united together,

⁴where the tribes go up,the tribes of the LORD,as a testimony for Israel,to give thanks to the name of the LORD.

⁵For there the thrones of judgment stand,the thrones of the house of David.

⁶Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:“May those who love you prosper.

⁷May there be peace within your walls,and prosperityinside your fortresses.”

⁸For the sake of my brothers and friends,I will say, “Peace be within you.”

⁹For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,I will seek your prosperity.

Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God

¹Have mercy on me,O God,according to Your loving devotion;according to Your great compassion,blot out my transgressions.

²Wash me clean of my iniquityand cleanse me from my sin.

³For I know my transgressions,and my sin is always before me.

⁴Against You, You only, have I sinnedand done what is evil in Your sight,so that You may be proved right when You speakand blameless when You judge.

⁵Surely I was brought forth in iniquity;I was sinful when my mother conceived me.

⁶Surely You desire truth in the inmost being;You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

⁷Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean;wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

⁸Let me hear joy and gladness;let the bones You have crushed rejoice.

⁹Hide Your face from my sinsand blot out all my iniquities.

¹⁰Create in me a clean heart, O God,and renew a right spirit within me.

¹¹Cast me not away from Your presence;take not Your Holy Spirit from me.

¹²Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,and sustain me with a willing spirit.

¹³Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,and sinners will return to You.

¹⁴Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God,the God of my salvation,and my tongue will sing of Your righteousness.

¹⁵O Lord, open my lips,and my mouth will declare Your praise.

¹⁶For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;You take no pleasure in burnt offerings.

¹⁷The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;a broken and a contrite heart,O God, You will not despise.

¹⁸In Your good pleasure, cause Zion to prosper;build up the walls of Jerusalem.

¹⁹Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices,in whole burnt offerings;then bulls will be offered on Your altar.

The Waters Are up to My Neck

¹Save me, O God,for the waters are up to my neck.

²I have sunk into the miry depths,where there is no footing;I have drifted into deep waters,where the flood engulfs me.

³I am weary from my crying;my throat is parched.My eyes fail,looking for my God.

⁴Those who hate me without causeoutnumber the hairs of my head;many are those who would destroy me—my enemies for no reason.Though I did not steal,I must repay.

⁵You know my folly, O God,and my guilt is not hidden from You.

⁶May those who hope in You not be ashamed through me,O Lord GOD of Hosts;may those who seek You not be dishonored through me,O God of Israel.

⁷For I have endured scorn for Your sake,and shame has covered my face.

⁸I have become a stranger to my brothersand a foreigner to my mother’s sons,

⁹because zeal for Your house has consumed me,and the insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.

¹⁰I wept and fasted,but it brought me reproach.

¹¹I made sackcloth my clothing,and I was sport to them.

¹²Those who sit at the gate mock me,and I am the song of drunkards.

¹³But my prayer to You, O LORD,is for a time of favor.In Your abundant loving devotion, O God,answer me with Your sure salvation.

¹⁴Rescue me from the mireand do not let me sink;deliver me from my foesand out of the deep waters.

¹⁵Do not let the floods engulf meor the depths swallow me up;let not the Pit close its mouth over me.

¹⁶Answer me, O LORD,for Your loving devotion is good;turn to me in keeping with Your great compassion.

¹⁷Hide not Your face from Your servant,for I am in distress.Answer me quickly!

¹⁸Draw near to my soul and redeem me;ransom me because of my foes.

¹⁹You know my reproach, my shame and disgrace.All my adversaries are before You.

²⁰Insults have broken my heart,and I am in despair.I looked for sympathy, but there was none,for comforters, but I found no one.

²¹They poisoned my food with galland gave me vinegar to quench my thirst.

²²May their table become a snare;may it be a retribution and a trap.

²³May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,and their backs be bent forever.

²⁴Pour out Your wrath upon them,and let Your burning anger overtake them.

²⁵May their place be deserted;let there be no one to dwell in their tents.

²⁶For they persecute the one You struckand recount the pain of those You wounded.

²⁷Add iniquity to their iniquity;let them not share in Your righteousness.

²⁸May they be blotted out of the Book of Lifeand not listed with the righteous.

²⁹But I am in pain and distress;let Your salvation protect me, O God.

³⁰I will praise God’s name in songand exalt Him with thanksgiving.

³¹And this will please the LORD more than an ox,more than a bull with horns and hooves.

³²The humble will see and rejoice.You who seek God, let your hearts be revived!

³³For the LORD listens to the needyand does not despise His captive people.

³⁴Let heaven and earth praise Him,the seas and everything that moves in them.

³⁵For God will save Zionand rebuild the cities of Judah,that they may dwell there and possess it.

³⁶The descendants of His servants will inherit it,and those who love His name will settle in it.

Praise the LORD from the Heavens

¹Hallelujah!Praise the LORD from the heavens;praise Him in the highest places.

²Praise Him, all His angels;praise Him, all His heavenly hosts.

³Praise Him, O sun and moon;praise Him, all you shining stars.

⁴Praise Him, O highest heavens,and you waters above the skies.

⁵Let them praise the name of the LORD,for He gave the command and they were created.

⁶He established them forever and ever;He issued a decree that will never pass away.

⁷Praise the LORD from the earth,all great sea creatures and ocean depths,

⁸lightning and hail, snow and clouds,powerful wind fulfilling His word,

⁹mountains and all hills,fruit trees and all cedars,

¹⁰wild animals and all cattle,crawling creatures and flying birds,

¹¹kings of the earth and all peoples,princes and all rulers of the earth,

¹²young men and maidens,old and young together.

¹³Let them praise the name of the LORD,for His name alone is exalted;His splendor is above the earth and the heavens.

¹⁴He has raised up a horn for His people,the praise of all His saints,of Israel, a people near to Him.Hallelujah!
