Taste and See That the LORD Is Good

¹I will bless the LORD at all times;His praise will always be on my lips.

²My soul boasts in the LORD;let the oppressed hear and rejoice.

³Magnify the LORD with me;let us exalt His name together.

⁴I sought the LORD, and He answered me;He delivered me from all my fears.

⁵Those who look to Him are radiant with joy;their faces shall never be ashamed.

⁶This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him;He saved him from all his troubles.

⁷The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,and he delivers them.

⁸Taste and see that the LORD is good;blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

⁹Fear the LORD, you His saints,for those who fear Him lack nothing.

¹⁰Young lions go lacking and hungry,but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

¹¹Come, children, listen to me;I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

¹²Who is the man who delights in life,who desires to see good days?

¹³Keep your tongue from eviland your lips from deceitful speech.

¹⁴Turn away from evil and do good;seek peace and pursue it.

¹⁵The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,and His ears are inclined to their cry.

¹⁶But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,to wipe out all memory of them from the earth.

¹⁷The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears;He delivers them from all their troubles.

¹⁸The LORD is near to the brokenhearted;He saves the contrite in spirit.

¹⁹Many are the afflictions of the righteous,but the LORD delivers him from them all.

²⁰He protects all his bones;not one of them will be broken.

²¹Evil will slay the wicked,and the haters of the righteous will be condemned.

²²The LORD redeems His servants,and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

Thanksgiving for Deliverance

¹Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;His loving devotion endures forever.

²Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

³and gathered from the lands,from east and west, from north and south.

⁴Some wandered in desert wastelands,finding no path to a city in which to dwell.

⁵They were hungry and thirsty;their soul fainted within them.

⁶Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,and He delivered them from their distress.

⁷He led them on a straight pathto reach a city where they could live.

⁸Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotionand His wonders to the sons of men.

⁹For He satisfies the thirstyand fills the hungry with good things.

¹⁰Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,prisoners in affliction and chains,

¹¹because they rebelled against the words of Godand despised the counsel of the Most High.

¹²He humbled their hearts with hard labor;they stumbled, and there was no one to help.

¹³Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,and He saved them from their distress.

¹⁴He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of deathand broke away their chains.

¹⁵Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotionand His wonders to the sons of men.

¹⁶For He has broken down the gates of bronzeand cut through the bars of iron.

¹⁷Fools, in their rebellious ways,and through their iniquities, suffered affliction.

¹⁸They loathed all foodand drew near to the gates of death.

¹⁹Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,and He saved them from their distress.

²⁰He sent forth His word and healed them;He rescued them from the Pit.

²¹Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotionand His wonders to the sons of men.

²²Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgivingand declare His works with rejoicing.

²³Others went out to sea in ships,conducting trade on the mighty waters.

²⁴They saw the works of the LORD,and His wonders in the deep.

²⁵For He spoke and raised a tempestthat lifted the waves of the sea.

²⁶They mounted up to the heavens, then sunk to the depths;their courage melted in their anguish.

²⁷They reeled and staggered like drunkards,and all their skill was useless.

²⁸Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,and He brought them out of their distress.

²⁹He calmed the storm to a whisper,and the waves of the seawere hushed.

³⁰They rejoiced in the silence,and He guided them to the harbor they desired.

³¹Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotionand His wonders to the sons of men.

³²Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the peopleand praise Him in the council of the elders.

³³He turns rivers into deserts,springs of water into thirsty ground,

³⁴and fruitful land into fields of salt,because of the wickedness of its dwellers.

³⁵He turns a desert into pools of waterand a dry land into flowing springs.

³⁶He causes the hungry to settle there,that they may establish a city in which to dwell.

³⁷They sow fields and plant vineyardsthat yield a fruitful harvest.

³⁸He blesses them, and they multiply greatly;He does not let their herds diminish.

³⁹When they are decreased and humbledby oppression, evil, and sorrow,

⁴⁰He pours out contempt on the noblesand makes them wander in a trackless wasteland.

⁴¹But He lifts the needy from afflictionand increases their families like flocks.

⁴²The upright see and rejoice,and all iniquity shuts its mouth.

⁴³Let him who is wise pay heed to these thingsand consider the loving devotion of the LORD.

¹¹and brought Israel out from among themHis loving devotion endures forever.

¹²with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm.His loving devotion endures forever.

²²a heritage to His servant Israel.His loving devotion endures forever.

²⁴and freed us from our enemies.His loving devotion endures forever.

²⁵He gives food to every creature.His loving devotion endures forever.

The LORD Is on My Side

⁴Let those who fear the LORD say,“His loving devotion endures forever.”

⁵In my distress I called to the LORD,and He answered and set me free.

⁶The LORD is on my side;I will not be afraid.What can man do to me?

⁷The LORD is on my side; He is my helper.Therefore I will look in triumph on those who hate me.

⁸It is better to take refuge in the LORDthan to trust in man.

⁹It is better to take refuge in the LORDthan to trust in princes.

¹⁰All the nations surrounded me,but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

¹¹They surrounded me on every side,but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

¹²They swarmed around me like bees,but they were extinguished like burning thorns;in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

¹³I was pushed so hard I was falling,but the LORD helped me.

¹⁴The LORD is my strength and my song,and He has become my salvation.

¹⁵Shouts of joy and salvation resound in the tents of the righteous:“The right hand of the LORD performs with valor!

¹⁶The right hand of the LORD is exalted!The right hand of the LORD performs with valor!”

¹⁷I will not die, but I will liveand proclaim what the LORD has done.

¹⁸The LORD disciplined me severely,but He has not given me over to death.

¹⁹Open to me the gates of righteousness,that I may enter and give thanks to the LORD.

²⁰This is the gate of the LORD;the righteous shall enter through it.

²¹I will give You thanks, for You have answered me,and You have become my salvation.

²²The stone the builders rejectedhas become the cornerstone.

²³This is from the LORD,and it is marvelous in our eyes.

²⁴This is the day that the LORD has made;we will rejoice and be glad in it.

²⁵O LORD, save us, we pray.We beseech You, O LORD, cause us to prosper!

²⁶Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.From the house of the LORD we bless you.

²⁷The LORD is God;He has made His light to shine upon us.Bind the festal sacrifice with cordsto the horns of the altar.

²⁸You are my God, and I will give You thanks.You are my God, and I will exalt You.
